Terms to remember

Anime is categorised in so many different genres and types targeting a different set of people. It is diverse.

Hello, Sanyu here. Its time i dived into this thing called anime but first, before we get knee deep into it here are the terms and or references i will be using that you will need to remember.

Anime and Manga have categories that crisscross depending on which you are reading or watching. These would help you decide whther you want to watch or read it or whether it fits your needs. Each Manga or Anime has a few attached to it and in describing it the terms are used. I am sure you have heard one or more of them from time to time.

Shounen/Shoujo - these are  for the boys and girls, respectively, of ages 10-18 and have material specific to the age group and gender for example romance for girls and fighting for guys.

Shounenai/Shoujoai - these are similar to the above of course though they are a milder version of them. so a little less love for the girls and a little less fighting and blood for the guys.

Seinen/Josei - These are for those people in the late teens and adults (who said adults cant watch or read cartoons) that is 18+. Not all of them have "adult" content but it is more than likely in many of them.Seinen is for the guys and Josei for the girls.

Ecchi - This is manga or Anime with naughty or sexual innuendos but not entirely or exactly it. as in there may be times where they allude to something dirty but will not elaborate it thus keeping you guessing.

Smut - (must i describe?) in short, heavy and frequent sexual content, sometimes even offensive. (yes the Japanese do know how to entertain. This is where Hentai (japanese for pervert) comes from.

These i must elaborate just for the benefit of those who are just getting into the Anime/Manga realm.
Manga - The japanese comics, for  reading. thay can be found on sites like www.mangapanda.com or www.mangafox.me to mention but a few.

Manhwa well in this case you may not know but the Koreans also started writing comics, well the Koreans and the Chinese. Now the two havent been separeted yet but i am sure it will be done soon. Also found on the above sites.

Ongoing and or Complete - these are self explanatory. the ongoing are Manga or anime that are still in production or are still being written while the completed are those which have been completed.

That is it for terms to remember.

I will be posting every Tuesday so in essence - Stay Tuned!

I remain yours (the one who loves Zoro the most)
Sanyu
